1. Selfie with a Quokka

#QuokkaSelfies have been trending on Instagram for years, famous personalities getting in on the act from Chris Hemsworth, Margot Robbie to Roger Federer and much more! Many of these critters on seen offshore on Rottnest Island near Perth, be sure to snap one and get in on the trend yourself!

Here are some tips for your Quokka selfie:


Use a selfie-stick! Quokka’s are so friendly they will come to you to say hello, however, a selfie-stick will help you to keep a respectful distance.


Use your phone’s burst mode, this will help you to get a good shot in! Remember to never feed the Quokka’s as they can get all the nutrients they need from the environment around them.

2. Visit the Pink Lake

Certainly one of the most unique sights in the world, the Pink Lake (or Hutt Lagoon) is just an hour’s drive from Geraldton. The iconic pink hue is created by the presence of carotenoid-producing algae, and is not only pretty, but also a source of Vitamin A! There is a dedicated lookout on Port Gregory Road where you can explore and take all the Instagram worthy photos like the ones below.



3. Road Trip

Western Australia is THE Road Trip State! With so many wonderful sights, stops along the way, spectacular sceneries as well as the outback, there certainly is a drive that is suitable for anyone. For something even more memorable, hire a camper van and experience this unique way to experience the roads! There’s definitely an endless number of ways you can explore Western Australia on a road trip.

4. Floral Fest

Did you know that Western Australia is home to an extensive collection of wildflowers? With over 12,000 species and 60% of them found only in Western Australia, appreciate the magnificence of them in full bloom and through the different seasons! The flowering season spans across a six-month period from June to November and in each different area, you will get to see the different species bloom during the seasons.


5. Experience WA by Air

If you’re looking to experience Western Australia in a new way, take to the skies! Whether by helicopter, plane or a hot air balloon, a scenic flight across Western Australia will help you to appreciate the diversity and majestic sights that the state has to offer! For a thrilling experience, try sky diving; 10,000 feet up in the air with 60 seconds of freefall would definitely change your life!

6. The view from the Top

There are many ways to enjoy scenery in Western Australia, want higher ground but don’t want to fly? There are many options as well! The Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk, Gloucester Tree, Kalbarri Skywalk or Gap at Albany each offer their own unique and distinct views, air (whether in a forest or near the seas) as well as environment!

Prefer the city? Climb the Matagarup Bridge near Swan River for a spectacular city view on the SkyView Deck, those looking for a thrill can try the new Zipline across Swan River that is scheduled to open soon.

7. Up close and personal

Western Australia is also a fantastic place if you are looking at swimming with wildlife! Swim with Dolphins at the Bunbury Dolphin Discovery Centre or if you are looking at something more unique, take a trip down to Ningaloo Reef where you can snorkel/swim with a Manta Ray or Whale Shark! For something that tops everything else, Ningaloo Marine Park off the coast of Exmouth and Coral Bay lets you swim with a Humpback Whale! Most of the swimming experiences with whaleshark or humpback whales at Ningaloo comes with complimentary underwater photography hence that once-in-a-lifetime shot will be taken care of. All you need to do is post it up on your instagram to wow your followers.
