National French Fry Day

Be it "French Fries", "Finger Chips", "Potato Chips", "Chips" or whatever name you call it, this delectable treat is loved around the world and National French Fry Day celebrates them! We have gathered a few recipes that you could attempt at any time, be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner or even for desserts! Whether you grab french fries from your nearest fast food restaurant or whip up one of these recipes, you can indulge as many French fries as you like and not "feel guilty" about it, just for today.

 

1. Baked Chili Cheese Fries with Bacon and Ranch

Ingredients

2 tablespoons cornstarch

2 teaspoons chili powder

1 teaspoon chipotle chili powder

½ teaspoon paprika

¼ teaspoon cumin

Pinch of Salt

A bag of fingerling potatoes (or 2 medium potatoes / a bag of frozen fries)

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon grill seasoning

¾ cup shredded cheddar cheese

2 tablespoons chopped chives

6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

Ranch dressing


Directions:

1. Mix cornstarch, chili powders, paprika, cumin and a pinch of salt together. If you want it to be spicier, you can add red pepper flakes or a pinch of cayenne.

2. Cut potatoes into wedges (if you are using whole potatoes). Add fries into a large bowl, toss the potatoes with olive oil, Worcestershire sauce and grill seasoning.

3. Sprinkle cornstarch mixture over the potatoes

4. Toss potatoes until its completely coated

5. Line baking sheet with parchment paper and spray or lay cooking spray/oil. Put the oven rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 425 degrees. Arrange the potatoes on the baking sheet in a single layer, bake for 30-40 minutes. Give it a few toss during baking time to even out the spread.

6. Transfer potatoes to an iron skillet or leave it on the baking sheet

7. Cover fries with cheese (you can add more) and Bacon

8. Put back into oven until cheese is melted. Sprinkle with chopped chives

9. Finally, top it up with a generous amount of ranch dressing

 

2. Margherita Pizza Fries

Ingredients:

450 grams bag of frozen fries

1 packet of cherry tomatoes, halved

2 tbsp. olive oil

Kosher salt

Freshly ground pepper

115 grams of mozzarella cheese cut into ½-in chunks

7 grams of Thinly Sliced Basil


Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees

2. Add fries to a large skillet and cook accordingly to package directions (estimated around 25-30 mins)

3. Meanwhile, toss cherry tomatoes with olive oil and season with salt & pepper to taste. Roast tomatoes for 20 minutes.

4. Top the cooked fries with roasted tomatoes and place the cheese. Bake for another 10 minutes, until cheese is melted. Garnish the dish with basil.

 

3. Loaded Pull Pork Cheese Fries

Ingredients:

(2) 680g of frozen French fries, cooked according to package directions

Approximately 230g shredded cheddar cheese

8 Slices of Cheese

½ cup bacon bits

450g of BBQ pulled pork

4 Pasteurized Eggs (Sunny-side up)

Chopped Scallions & Parsley to taste


Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 190 degrees

2. Arrange cooked fries on a large baking sheet and cooked according to package directions

Cook pulled pork while waiting for fries

3. Top the fries with cheddar cheese, American cheese and bacon bits

4. Bake until cheese is completely melted. Remove from oven and top with pull pork, eggs, scallions and parsley.

 

4. Kimchi French Fries

Ingredients:


Beef

220g thinly sliced beef sirloin tips

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce

2 teaspoons brown sugar

½ teaspoon sesame seed


Fries

450g frozen French fries

1-2 cups shredded Colby jack cheese

2 cups chopped kimchi

1 tablespoon minced cilantro

1 tablespoon chopped green onion


Sauce:

1/3 cup sour cream

2 teaspoons gochujang paste


Directions:


Sauce:

- Whisk all ingredients in a small bowl


Fries:

- Prepare French fries according to packet instructions. Top with cheese and add back to oven until melted

- While cheese is melting over French fries, saute your kimchi. Using the same pan saute the beef and kimchi together and cook until warm.

- Remove cheese covered fries from oven and top with cooked kimchi, beef, cilantro, green onions and sauce.


Beef:

- In a small bowl add all ingredients and marinate while cooking the French fries

- Once the fries are done heat the pan over high heat and saute the beef until no longer pink.

- Remove beef from pan and set aside

 

5. Carrot Fries

Ingredients:

450g of carrots

2 tablespoons of olive oil

½ teaspoon of cumin

½ teaspoon paprika

Kosher Salt

Freshly Ground Black Pepper

1/3 cup of Mayo

2 tablespoon canned chipotle

Juice of ½ limes


Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 220 degrees. Peel carrots and cut them lengthwise in half and then in half again. Toss carrots with olive oil, cumin and paprika.

2. Season with salt and pepper. Spread in an even layer on baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, or until tender and crisp at the end. In a small bowl whisk together mayo, chipotle and lime juice

3. Serve carrot with sauce

 

6. Bacon Avocado Fries

Ingredients:

3 Avocados

24 thin strips of bacon

¼ cup ranch dressing for serving


Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 220 degrees. Slice avocado into 8 equally-sized wedges. Wrap each wedge in bacon, cutting bacon if needed. Place on a baking sheet, seam side.

2. Bake until bacon is cooked through and crispy, estimated around 12-15 minutes

3. Serve with ranch dressing

 

7. Apples Fries

Ingredients:

¾ cup of milk

1 large egg

1 cup of all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon of baking powder

1/3 cup & 2 tablespoon sugar, divided

3 ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon, divided

¼ teaspoon of Kosher salt

2 cup vegetable oil (for frying)

3 large apples, cored and peeled

Caramel, warmed, for dipping


Directions:

1. Make the batter: Combine milk, egg, flour, baking powder, 2 tablespoon sugar, ½ teaspoon cinnamon, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Stir until large clumps are broken up. Set aside.

2. In a small bowl, combine 1/3 cup sugar with remaining 3 teaspoons cinnamon for dusting the finished apple fries. Set aside.

3. Pour about 1” vegetable oil into skillet over medium-high heat. Slice apples into small wedges.

4. Using thongs, dip the apples into batter and gently lower into oil. Once the edges of apple slices are slightly golden, gently flip to the other side. Cook about 1 minute more.

Remove apple fries from oil and drain excess grease using paper towels. Sprinkle both sides with the Cinnamon-sugar blend and serve with caramel for dipping.
