Visit the world’s 3rd largest sand island – Moreton Island

Just 25km off Brisbane’s shore is the third largest sand island in the world. Crystal-clear lakes and lagoons exist among tall sand dunes, abundant wildflowers and pristine beaches. Hand feed wild dolphins, and dive or snorkel among mysterious wrecks and pristine waters, or watch silhouettes of fishermen casting their lines in lingering twilight. The adventurous can try quad biking, four-wheel-driving or sand tobogganing. We recommend a 2-night island stay at Tangalooma Island Resort to complete your Brisbane experience.

The Heritage Rich

Take in the prime riverfront views and city vistas under the Story Bridge on Howard Smith Wharves. A trendy hub built off the rich history of the pre-1940 Port of Brisbane. The site is steeped in history, originally built in the 1930s and largely abandoned since the 1960s when the port moved further downstream. Spaces including air-raid shelters, a two-storey office building and wharfage are now heritage-listed and a rare surviving example of early infrastructure in the city.

Today, Howard Smith Wharves is THE place to eat, drink, play and stay. With countless restaurants by the river, get ready to be treated to not only delectable meals, but an amazing view of the surroundings.

The Adorable Koalas

Recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is the world's first and largest koala sanctuary, with over 90 years of experience, 130 koalas and over 70 species of other native Australian animals. Queensland is one of three states in Australia where cuddling a koala is permitted. Of these, Queensland is undoubtedly the nation’s koala-cuddling capital, and the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is the best place to do so!

In addition to cuddling a koala, you can also hand-feed the kangaroos, or catch the action in the flight raptor show! Rain, hail or shine, Lone Pine is open every day during the festive season, including Christmas day, boxing day and New Year’s Day, and is a must-go for all visitors to Queensland!

The Exhilarating Bridge Climb

Brisbane's must-do experience, the Story Bridge Adventure Climb is a truly unique and memorable adventure for all levels of fitness and age (min. 6 years old). The Story Bridge is one of only three bridges in the world where you can climb!

Whether you're a local or a visitor, you will be exhilarated by a once in a lifetime experience that offers you the most magnificent uninterrupted 360 degree views of Brisbane City, the river, mountain ranges and islands. One of only three such experiences in the world, the Story Bridge Adventure Climb also provides fascinating commentary about the history and heritage of both the bridge and city surrounds.
